Discontinuation of CubeCart Related Services

With the new release of CubeCart Version 5, Devillion Ltd - the makers of CubeCart have now discontinued both CubeCart Versions 3 & 4 with security patches no longer released for V3 and security patches for V4 being discontinued around the end of 2011 we will no longer be offering CubeCart related packages. You can read more details at http://forums.cubecart.com/topic/42198-cubecart-v3-v4-end-of-life-announcement/

I'm using V3 for my store. What should i do?

We strongly recommend that you either upgrade to CubeCart V5 or consider using a different shopping cart. We are currently recommending OpenCart which is a FREE Open Source shopping cart with many more features than any current CubeCart release and is just as user-friendly and simple to customise.

For the global security of our servers we have no choice but to refuse any future use of CubeCart Versions 3 and 4 on our servers as we cannot put other client's websites at risk from using out dated scripts that pose a security risk. All shared hosting suppliers will have no choice but to take the same action.

What can I do to keep my store secure?

The most important step is to upgrade your V3 or V4 store to the latest version. We understand that some of our clients have added extra mods and custom skins to their store's and this creates a lot of extra work for you to upgrade but I really cannot stress how important this is. All the time you are running out of date scripts you are not only putting your store at risk from hackers but you are also putting the data of every other person on the server.

What will happen to my current store?

At the moment nothing will change and you can continue to use your CubeCart website but in the event that a security risk is posed, we will have no option but to take your website offline until you have deleted CubeCart V3 or V4. We will of course try to give you as much notice as possible before taking you temporarily offline.

It is most regrettable that Devillion have chosen to do this and leave millions of customers in a very difficult situation but should you have any questions regarding this announcement, please don't hesitate to contact us.
